PIANO PRIMER LEVEL
‘Who Stole The Broccoli?’ is the first book in a fun beginner piano adventure series. Budding detectives are immersed in a mystery designed to engage students and add enjoyment to lessons.

A piano adventure
There has been a crime! The local supermarket opened its doors in the morning to find ALL the broccoli had been stolen! The security guard was arrested but the detective in charge doesn’t believe he did it. Only piano and theory skills will solve the mystery, find the thief, and reveal why on Earth anyone would steal broccoli!
Beginner piano
This story based adventure works well as both a stand-alone method book, or alongside any other piano method series as a supplement to reinforce learning. Ideal from around age 8 upwards, it begins off stave ensuring a solid grasp of finger numbers and piano key names, moving swiftly onto notation and the grand stave.
They have all LOVED the books and one pupil rated the ‘Piano Detective’ group holiday club “a billion squillion out of 10!”, that was the Broccoli mystery. So thank you for creating these books!

The contents
‘Who Stole The Broccoli?’ has many varied activities for the developing musician . It includes tunes to learn (with teacher accompaniment), ‘clues’ to discover in the theory puzzles, mini composing, a listening quiz, and even some fun exploration of sounds with improvising or doodling. There are mazes, scramble puzzles, match ups, colouring activities and more.
The book is aimed at the beginner learner and moves from scratch up to the equivalent of the first two thirds or so of Piano Adventures Primer, or part way through book B of My First Piano Adventures. This series can be used alongside any piano method book as a supplement to learning, and is also ideal as a stand alone method.

The finger number trap
This method is keen to ensure students are future proofed when it comes to finger numbers. The tunes encourage students not to associate piano keys with certain finger numbers, so that when they move into different hand positions it is a smoother transition (however, there is flexibility to change this should teachers wish to follow another approach).
Who is the broccoli thief?
Budding piano detectives follow the evidence and clues in the theory puzzles, ruling out suspects one by one as they progress through the book. A QR code leads to the solution to check if they found the thief, and there is a colourful certificate at the back of the book for successful investigators.
