It is an educational website which provides access to online music games and resources upon registration for students and music teachers. We aim to provide a safe study environment and take the privacy of users seriously. This Privacy Policy covers the kind of data collected, what is done with it and how it is protected. Your personal information is only ever used to administer your account and is never passed to third parties for marketing or other commercial purposes.
What information do we collect? …
We only collect the personal data we need to be able to provide you with the services you have asked us to provide or tell you about.
- At Registration: We collect necessary information from you, including name and email address, when you register for an account or place an order.
- Using the Contact Forms: When you contact us using the contact facilities, we ask for your name and email address so we can help you with your enquiry.
- Making Comments: Both logged-in users and visitors can leave comments (all comments are moderated).
- Financial Information: If you purchase a Learnatune Membership, at checkout we will collect your name, email address, username, and password. This information is used to setup your account for our site. If you are redirected to an offsite payment gateway to complete your payment, we may store this information in a temporary session variable to setup your account when you return to our site. At checkout, we may also collect your billing address and phone number. This information is used to confirm your credit card. The billing address and phone number are saved by our site to prepopulate the checkout form for future purchases and so we can get in touch with you if needed to discuss your order. At checkout, we may also collect your credit card number, expiration date, and security code. This information is passed to our payment gateway to process your purchase. The last 4 digits of your credit card number and the expiration date are saved by our site to use for reference and to send you an email if your credit card will expire before the next recurring payment.
- Achievements: Your activity may be logged as you use the site. We also store comments on courses, lessons, topics, assignments, and essays if you choose to leave them.
- Adding memberships: When you visit the store part of our website (including adding the free content) we track certain things to make your shopping experience easier. This includes location, IP address and browser type which is used for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping, plus the products you have looked at which is used, for example, to show you products you have recently viewed. We’ll also use cookies to keep track of basket contents while you’re browsing our site.
- Mailing list: We don’t have a mailing list but if you register for our blog posts we use WordPress at http://www.learnatune.co.uk. Our sign-up form asks for your name and email address in order to send you notification when we make a blog post.
What do we do with it?
- We never pass on your information except where required by law: We value your privacy and your information is only ever used to manage your account. It is never passed to third parties for marketing and commercial purposes.
- Logging in: If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
- Password: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
- Your Achievements: Some achievements in the games are automatically viewable in public leaderboards where you can add your name (or a nickname – or remain anonymous as ‘Guest’ if you prefer). The leaderboard will also display the score you achieved in the game and rank the top ten players.
- Your Comments: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If you make a comment anywhere on the website, your username will automatically appear next to your comment. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
- Spam: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service
- User Profile: The information that you provide at registration is kept in your user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their own personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
- Contact Forms: If you correspond with us using the contact forms, you provide contact details and other information to help with queries. This information is only used to deal with the query you send.
- Registration: When you register an account with us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to send you information about your account, orders, courses, and memberships or communicate with you about courses and memberships that you’re enrolled in. This also includes processing payments, preventing fraud, setting up your account. We may also respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints.
How long do we keep it?
We will only keep personal data for as long as is necessary to provide our services, or for as long as we reasonably need to keep the information for the lawful business purposes or to comply with a statutory or other legal requirement.
- Registered Users: We only keep the information of registered users for as long as you keep an account with us. You can request to be removed and have all your information deleted from the Website by using the contact form and this will be done as soon as possible (but no longer than one month after receiving the request).
- Account: If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
- Contact Forms: In the case of contact forms, the information you provide is only kept for as long as needed to deal with your query and is deleted no longer than six months after that time.
- Comments: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. Your comment can be removed upon request.
Our Policy Concerning Children …
- We encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s use of this website. We require that children under the age of 18 have parent/guardian consent before registering with this site.
- We also ask that such users provide their parent or guardian’s email address to set up an account rather than their own.
- All comments are moderated before being published to ensure a safe learning environment for all users, and the administrator will not allow publication of any inappropriate or unsuitable comments.
Keeping Your information Safe …
- We care about the security of your personal information and take reasonable steps to keep safe the information collected. We ask you to maintain the security of your account and data, by choosing a secure password not used on any other sites, using a combination of letters and numbers.
Third Party Links …
- Although we aim to only include quality, safe and relevant external links, users are advised to adopt a policy of caution before clicking any external web links. We cannot be held liable for any damages or implications caused by visiting any external links. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies and you are advised to check them if you visit the links.
- Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
