How pizza is adding fun to piano camps!

Have you ever held a summer camp for your music students? They can be a great way to build a sense of community in your studio and get children working musically with others.

When I wrote the piano book ‘Who Stole My Pizza‘, I hadn’t thought about it being used in a camp situation. So it was with great surprise and delight that I started to receive messages from teachers throughout the US who have been having pizza themed parties with my book!

In most cases, the students work through it as a group or in teams, searching for the clues and piecing together the evidence in the theory puzzles. They read the comic style story together and play the piano tunes (which can be accompanied with the optional teacher duet).

Often at the end of the session, a takeaway pizza is ordered and delivered to the budding detectives. Now that sounds like a winning formula to me!

I’ve even seen some wonderful pictures of students really getting immersed in the fun. Dressed up as actual detectives with a Sherlock Holmes style cape and holding a magnifying glass, they look like they are having a blast!

Check out some of the wonderful comments from piano teachers below and find out more about the book here.

We are using Susan Leigh’s mystery books to add fun and excitement to our studio. Our students were off school January 20 so we hosted a mystery class Who Stole My Pizza? It was so much fun! …. The kids LOVED it and they all were excited to hear there are more mystery books to complete. Once the class solved the mystery we had the “missing pizza” delivered to celebrate. Then – took a photo of each “detective” who worked the case … It was soooo much fun!! | Charla Welch Warren on Facebook
