Agent Ollie crash lands his time machine 100 million years ago, when dinosaurs walked the Earth! The only way to get rescued is to find the emergency beacon and send a signal to the Time Agency back home. But where could it be? Dodge the dinosaurs with Ollie in this piano adventure by learning the tunes and solving the music theory puzzles.
Beginner piano
There are six original piano tunes to learn including ‘Sort of Sneaky T-Rex’, ‘Stomping Stegosaurus’ and ‘Fiery Lava Tango’, all with optional teacher duets. This fun mystery complements any method book and uses notes in different five finger positions around the piano (with some hands together playing and simple two note chords). It is perfect for beginner students who have been learning for a while and is equivalent to level one of a series like Faber’s Piano Adventures
The contents
There are clues hidden in the music theory puzzles. Follow the scramble maze in ‘Stego-match-asaurus’ and find the clue in the ‘Volcano Maze’ to search for the emergency beacon and help Ollie get home. Includes mazes, match ups, colouring puzzles, time manuals to unscramble, and much more.
The puzzles include music theory students might encounter in their first year or two of learning, such as time signatures of 2, 3 and 4 beats in a bar/measure and simple note/rest values of 1,2,3 or 4 beats. Questions vary from adding missing time signatures and rests, musical maths, matching signs to meanings and much more
The book is aimed at the beginner learner and level wise is equivalent to a large proportion of a series like Piano Adventures Level One. This series can be used alongside any piano method book as a supplement to learning.
How to escape
Budding piano detectives follow a map of the island, ruling out places where the emergency beacon could be buried one by one. Search ‘Triceratops Nook’, climb ‘Megalosaurus Mountain’ and dare to enter ‘T-Rex Bay’. A QR code leads to the solution to check if students solved the case, and there is a colourful certificate at the back of the book for successful time travellers.
