One of the first music theory games I ever made is called “Who Stole My Doughnut?”. At the time I had a rather mischievous dog who enjoyed long walks, belly rubs, and playing catch. But their favourite (and most annoying!) past time was “counter surfing”.
I lost count of the amount of times I’d make some food, walk away for a moment and come back to find it had mysteriously vanished! One occasion I spent ages preparing a wonderful dessert for friends. It looked delicious. Until the dog decided he would steal the pastry topping!
A frantic last minute scramble for ingredients and I managed to make something else. But I never forgot it!
So this is why this loveable fluffy rogue inspired me to make one of the most popular music games on my site. Poor Simon (like me!) left his doughnut on his desk at work one day and left the room. When he returned, his tasty treat had vanished.
In this ‘guess who’ style game, students explore the crime scene to search for clues and rule out the suspects one by one. But there is a catch! They can only receive the clues if they know their music theory.
