If you have been enjoying my piano mysteries, like ‘Who Stole My Pizza?’, you might enjoy a brand new freebie on my website. It’s a fun online music theory game called “Reggie’s Heist” and the music questions are customisable by the teacher!
Reggie was caught trying to steal a valuable gem from the local museum. The rest of his gang got away but it’s up to your students to play ‘detective’ and bring them to justice!
Set over three rounds, students first answer a music theory question of the teacher’s choice. There are draggable note values and time signatures to create all kinds of questions and could be used for theory or even rhythm playing. A lightbox also opens up a grand stave with draggable notes ideal for note naming practice (or even playing on their instrument). Perfect for tailoring to each individual student’s level.
The game can be played either with student (as detective) and teacher (as the thief! or you could even swap roles when playing for a second time) or with two students. The detective picks a card to see how many questions they can ask the thief to help them identify members of the gang. Interview questions might include ‘are they wearing a hat?’, or ‘do they have blue eyes?’.
If you would like to play the game with your students, ‘Reggie’s Heist’ can be found in my totally FREE Learnatune Books Hub. This is a useful resource for music teachers using my books including ‘Who Stole My Pizza’ and ‘Mystery in Room 13’. It has demo tracks, solutions to the mysteries, and more.
