Improving note reading with snakes!

As a teacher the drag and drop notes are incredible! I love how I can tailor it to the range of notes a beginner knows, or focus on a particular set of notes that are recent and relevant.

Music Teacher

In Jack’s last piano lesson we visited the desert searching for treasure. We were doing so well before a loud ‘hiiissss’ made us both jump and then giggle!

We weren’t really in the desert but visiting it virtually to play ‘Treasure in the Desert’. Jack needed help with note reading so I popped the iPad up on the piano’s music stand, loaded up the game, and then dragged the notes into place on the screen. I wanted him to practice steps and skips reading so asked him to put his thumb on the first note and play them to me.

After giving him a score out of five we entered the desert and managed to pick up a lot of gold coins before the hiss of the snake took it away!

Despite this, Jack got a great score and was proud to take a sticky post-it note with his score and name and pin it up on my colourful leaderboard which came with the game (only available in the ‘Studio’ teacher version). He is hoping to beat his score next week.

There is a quick demo of the game here and more about how to access this game here. This game is part of a collection of customisable games for teachers where students can have fun with ‘Don’t Wake Lenny’, ‘Garbage Monsters’ and more.
