Sight-reading skills
There are many ingredients to becoming a good sight reader. In this book, help Detective Drake solve the case by finding patterns in the music, reading intervals of a 2nd and 3rd (or steps and skips), looking at the rise and fall of the notes on the stave, and much more. Each chapter includes a ‘spotlight’ section with mini exercises to play on the spot.
The book is aimed at students who can play in different five finger hand positions around the piano (hands separately). It is equivalent to the end part of a series like Piano Adventures level one.
Search for clues
There are clues everywhere and Piano Pattern Detective is full of puzzles! Complete match ups, mazes, coloring activities, scrambles and more. Find out who was in the canteen eating lunch at the time of the crime or follow the ‘Footprint Maze’ to rule out suspects.
How to play
Rule out the suspects one by one to crack the case and find the spy. Successful detectives can fill out the colourful certificate at the back of the book, and there is a QR code which leads to the solution.
